ROYAL SPOONBILL -- as it turns out, are rather rare. To find this fine specimen at Churchill Island was a stroke of luck, and I have not seen one since.
Ibis and Herons on the other hand are in plentiful supply, and can usually be found at low tide.
Swamp hens are shy birds, but their vivid colours give them away in the undergrowth.
