GYROCOPTERS -- also known as autogyros are often mistaken for helicopters, but they work on a different principle. The rotor is passively driven by a "wind-milling" effect, and accordingly, a gyrocopter is unable to hover. Don, at Phillip Island, Victoria, has a collection of these machines, which he flies whenever the conditions allow.
Having an open cockpit and flying at 80 knots give pilot and passenger a real sense of high speed!
